The One Stop Trev Shop is offering clothing from a variety of new brands and the new storefront opened in Glencoe on Aug.29.

On Aug.29, the One Stop Trev Shop store in Glencoe officially opened its doors, welcoming all students and community members.

The shop sells clothing and accessories for students, staff members, and community members such as tote bags, sweatshirts, sweatpants, and sport uniforms.

Special education teacher Kari Nakayama, who works with the shop, said that students in the transition program have a chance to learn about running a business from job training.

“Now that we moved to Glencoe, it’s an awesome way for our students to sell the items that we make and talk with members of the community. It has been really rewarding for all of them to be working there and seeing customers come in.”

News of the storefront opening has been spreading through social media, attracting customers and keeping employees busy.

“A community member came into the store and posted on Facebook that we were open and I was shocked how many people saw that and came in,” said Nakayama. “Then New Trier tried spreading the word as well through Instagram, so we’ve been doing really well.”

The new location is situated at 640 Vernon Avenue in Glencoe.

Currently, the storefront is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. The store is trying to find ways to extend the hours so that students can come after school, aside from being able to purchase items online.

Business education faculty member and organizer of the One Stop Trev Shop, Melissa Duffy, said that there has been reinvestment into new products for the shop.

Clothing from a variety of brands were added including Nike, Johnnie-O, and Lululemon.

The One Stop Trev Shop is still situated on the fourth floor and has also been updated to incorporate more school spirit and collaborate with the New Trier Green Team. There are several white shelves which are used for decoration and for matching the themes of home games.

While the store has been selling a little bit of everything, some brands have been especially popular.

“People are going crazy for Lululemon clothing, and the Nike sweatshirts we’ve pretty much almost sold out of those. I had to reorder more already,” said Duffy.

Duffy said the process of adding a variety of brands and seeking out vendors has been time consuming but worth it.

“I went to a trade show last year just to see what some of the popular products are and promotional items that people are creating, and it took some time to find the right people and vendors that we wanted to work with.”

Nakayama added that there will be the possibility of partnering with other local schools.

“We want to be a part of the community as much as we can, so we’ve connected with Central School in Glencoe and some other local schools to see if we can sell their gear.”

With a focus on being student-driven, the One Stop Trev Shop has partnered with the graphic design and marketing classes in the past to create ideas of new products and logos.

“We love to support student entrepreneurs, so if there’s any students out there that makes their own product or has a business where they’re selling stuff, we’d love to put it in there and help promote and sell,” said Duffy.
