The boys rowing team came out of the Scholastic Nationals a couple strokes too slow with their first varsity boat losing in the first heat and not making it to the semifinals.
The lightweight eight boat also lost in the first heat, but the varsity four boat made it to the semifinals. This marked the end of a disappointing season for a team whose varsity boat has never won a national championship. Senior Andrew Thompson said, “It wasn’t our best year and we didn’t do as well we hoped to do.”
Head coach, Nate Kelp-Lenane, said, “I was disappointed that we couldn’t move forward but they put out their best race. I was excited to see the [varsity four boat] advance as far as they did in a really competitive race.”
