Four Questions with rising alum duo Louis the Child

DJ duo Freddy Kennett and Robby Hauldren came back to New Trier High School on Nov. 29. Co Editor-in-Chief Connor Josellis caught up with the New Trier graduates.

CJ: So what was it like over the weekend going to the Metro, seeing such a hometown crowd?

RH: It was amazing, we saw a lot of kids from New Trier, it was cool to just look out and see kids in the same position we were in just a couple of years ago, going out to shows and being New Trier students and stuff. It was cool to play to them after having been out in the crowd just a couple of years ago.

CJ: How did you come to the decision to either drop out or not attend college?

FK: It really just came over time. We had the idea that we were gonna keep going and just go to college until we started to see that shows were starting to pay more money and we were able to make a living.

RH: It also reached the point where going to school would get in the way.  Last year especially we both realized that we needed more time to spend on music if we want to take it to the level that we want to take it to.

CJ: Do you guys have a goal for the upcoming year?

FK: Have ten number ones-

RH: -A million number ones

CJ: Do you guys ever take time to reflect on your rapid rise to fame?

FK: All the time, I think Robby and I always just go like “dude this is crazy” and we’ve been wanting this forever.

RH:  It’s wild to see how quickly stuff happens.  You don’t really think about it in the moment too much, but then you look back and you’re like, wow that’s incredible the stuff you can do.
