As the leaves begin to change colors and a chill runs through the air, most begin to gear up for the approach of autumn. But, at New Trier High School, the seasonal change is not the talk of the town. Instead, this year’s Homecoming dance is!
The dance, with a Trevian Tropical Rainforest theme, is set for Sept. 21 from 7 to 10 p.m. Student Council and Tri-Ship organize this annual event. When attending the dance, students will explore the Northfield Campus gymnasium wetlands and enjoy a night with friends. Although freshmen are unable to attend, there is a Freshman Mixer on Oct. 8.
For now, conversations run through the halls, here are some answers to commonly asked questions.
“What do we wear?”
Students can wear whatever they feel comfortable in. Typically, sophomores wear semi-formal attire clothing, while upperclassmen dress in themed group costumes.
“It is so much fun to see everyone at the dance! I love seeing all of the different costumes and clothing,” Student Activities Coordinator Stacy Kolack said.
“What if we are sick of the dance floor?”
Some people may feel as if they are unable to stay at the dance, as the dance floor may not be for them. Kolack said there are options for students who do not want to be on the dance floor, such as the game room adjacent to the gym, which will have inflatable ax throwing, a photo booth, corn hole, and more.
“How can I bring my date who attends another school?”
Students who want to bring a non-New Trier student to the dance must complete the Guest Request Form by the end of the school day on Sept. 20 and bring it into the Student Activities office located in room W021D.
“I attend New Trier. How can I purchase my own ticket?”
Check out the Quick Links page on the school website and click on the Homecoming tab, leading you to the proper ticketing purchase information. For those planning on attending, make sure to bring a physical student ID card to be admitted.
Homecoming promises to be an unforgettable event, bringing many students together for a night of fun and lasting memories of the Trevian jungle.
